Sir Fancis Drake and Cassie off to a Small Town

Hello there! This is Sir Francis Drake. I had the pleasure to ride home with my friend Cassie to her small hometown of Abingdon, Illinois. Even though it is small, there are some well known things about it. The talk of the town is the totem pole. It has been for years. If you are not from Abingdon then you know of Abingdon as the town with the tall totem pole in the middle of main street. Well here it is, a picture of me and Cassie in front of the really really tall totem pole.
At the top are the words, “Abingdon, Illinois,” painted on a representation of wings. Carved into the length of the pole are various images of objects, people and animals, including portraits of Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas, ears of corn and the state flower (a violet). Near the base, the pole has another wide set of wings in the shape of the state of Illinois covered with a variety of designs.
The totam pole was built in 1969 and was the tallest totem pole east of the Rockies at 83 feet tall. It is called "Big Daddy". It was created by Steve Greenquist when he was 18 years old. Unfortunately it is not the tallest totem pole anymore but people still come around to see it, including myself!

I traveled 341 miles both ways making it 682 miles all together!

Traveled by car: 682 Miles
Traveled by CI 424 Section 2: 3,801 Miles
